Job Stories From Northborough, MA
Dehumidification in Northborough, MA

When this existing customer called, they were pleased to report that they no longer had issues with water in their basement, They did, however, have an issue with humidity. Our service technician Jim went out and installed a SaniDry Sedona dehumidifier in their basement so that mold, odors, must and humidity wouldn't be an issue. He tied the line into the existing sump pump discharge and the water from the Sedona just drained from the air of their home to the outdoors.

Now our customers have a healthier home!

I have cracks on foundation and garage floor . Would like have your help to fix this issue.
Project Location: Northborough, MA
Until this last Winter, we've never had a problem with moisture in our basement, (a dehumidifier in the garage for when the humidity got high outside, yes, but nothing in the house itself). Last Winter we started both feeling much higher humidity and beginning to smell a musty / mold-like smell in our guest room downstairs. We bought an additional dehumidifier for inside, and when we first started using it, it showed 80% humidity, in the Winter, inside the house where, again, we'd never had a problem with humidity or water before. And, while now running 2 dehumidifiers fulltime is controlling the humidity, that's not really a long-term solution, especially since the one inside throws off a lot of heat, which is definitely a problem in the warmer weather. Possibly related, but not sure: ------------------------------------------- In Spring 2016, we had to get a new water line going from our well to our (now new) water tank, which involved excavating a trench right in front of the house in the middle of what had been a swale, (i.e. we live on the side of a hill), changing the angle of the ground outside a bit, (i.e. instead of a sharper angle moving into a flat swale, it's now a more gradual angle moving into the same area, while we save up to have the landscape and driveway redone properly). From Spring 2016 through Winter 2017/2018, we had no issues, but I'm now wondering if that digging upset the exterior ground water flow and/or the sealing of the concrete foundation, causing the high humidity we now have. Unfortunately, we have a finished basement, so I can't see if there are actual cracks in the wall, etc. So, I guess we really want someone to come in who could help us out with how best to get the humidity back out of the basement without needing the dehumidifiers as a solution. Note: did also notice that there is now a fairly new foundation crack in the boiler room, (which is not immediately attached to the guest room / the room that's the problem). Not sure whether that's relevant or not, but thought it at least worth mentioning, just in case.
